ABOUT US



AAPRI Clinical Research is a center dedicated to conducting IRB (Institutional Review Board) approved studies. Many of these studies are sponsored by pharmaceutical companies, which are required to conduct clinical trials on all drugs prior to receiving federal approval. At AAPRI Clinical Research, the majority of our studies are termed Phase III or Phase IV, meaning they have passed animal and human safety studies, and are now undergoing test for efficacy.

Our center began primarily as a center for asthma and allergy studies. We now conduct studies on a wider range of diseases and conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, migraine headaches, and others. Of course, we continue to conduct studies on asthma and allergy medications, and enjoy the extensive resources of our sister practice – Asthma & Allergy Physicians of Rhode Island. Dr. John Zwetchkenbaum is the principal investigator at AAPRI Clinical Research. “Dr. Z” as he is affectionately known by his patients is an Asthma and Allergy specialist, board certified in both Internal Medicine and Asthma & Immunology. He enjoys one of the most successful asthma and allergy practices in the region, with offices in Providence , Lincoln , and Warren , Rhode Island .

A Brown University graduate, Dr. Z completed his asthma and allergy training at the world renowned National Jewish Medical Center in Denver . He is a clinical instructor at Brown University School of Medicine, and has been recognized on multiple occasions as a “ Top Doc ” by Rhode Island Monthly Magazine. Dr. Z has also appeared in numerous newspaper, television, and radio news segments, offering expert commentary on asthma and allergy as well as his clinical research activities.

Cheryl O'Neil is the driving force behind the acquisition of new studies for AAPRI Clinical Research. With over 10 years of experience as a clinical coordinator performing Phase I-IV studies, Cheryl has assumed direction of the entire research operation at AAPRI. Along with developing relationships with new study partners, Cheryl is the primary contact for new patients and volunteers who seek participation in clinical trials.

 
         

         
 
Karen Dorsey
  Karen has been with AAPRI Clinical Research for three years. She has conducted several clinical trials in all of our therapeutic areas.

 
     
         

         
 

Suzy Lopes
  Suzy has worked for Asthma & Allergy Physicians of RI for over a year, and recently joined the staff at AAPRI Clinical Research. Suzy is fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish.
